چکیده

Subsidence rate in a reclaimed coastal land of Noksan industrial complex, Korea, was measured by C-band SAR differential interferometry (DInSAR). Surface conditions of the reclaimed land are very rough without vegetation with respect to C-band, which makes strong radar returns. However, artificially loaded top soil is subject to change within a short period so that it is difficult to obtain coherent interferometric pairs by using C-band in a reclaimed land. Seven RADARSAT-1 data sets of fine beam mode (F4) had been obtained between September 2002 and October 2003, and 4 coherent interferograms were generated from them. A large incidence angle (about 41 degree) of RADARSAT-1 F4 fine-beam mode is not favorable for observing flat areas. To obtain coherent interferograms, we used pairs of short temporal and perpendicular baselines. AIRSAR C-band DEM and a DEM constructed from an ERS tandem pair were used to eliminate topographic phase from the interferograms. Estimated interferometrybased subsidence was evaluated by using in-situ data that had been obtained by magnetic probe extensometers with an accuracy of a few millimeters. Compaction process of the newly filled soil is considered as a main cause of the subsidence. The results prove that DInSAR technique using RADARSAT-1 fine-beam mode SAR is a useful tool in the field of geotechnical engineering.

Monitoring Land Surface Subsidence Using Radar Interferometry: The Challenges

SUMMARY Subsidence of the land surface is defined as the vertical surface movement due to the removal of subsurface support. This paper presents the differential interferometric synthetic aperture radar (DInSAR) results derived from the data of various SAR satellites, such as ERS-1/2, Radarsat-1 and JERS-1, for subsidence monitoring. One of the limitations of selecting the suitable interferomet...

Evaluation of land subsidence in Kashmar-Bardaskan plain, NE Iran

The development of agriculture and industry and the increase of population in countries with arid to semi-arid climates have led to more harvesting of groundwater resources and as a result land subsidence in different parts of the worlds. Decades of groundwater overexploitation in the Kashmar-Bardaskan plain in the north-east of Iran has resulted substantial land subsidence in this plain. The p...

Using Permanent Scatterer Insar to Monitor Land Subsidence along High Speed Railway- the First Experiment in China

We present in this contribution the results of the first experiment to monitor land subsidence along JingJin High Speed Railway (JingJin HSR), which connects Beijing city and Tianjin city and is the first high speed railway in China, by using the Permanent Scatterer InSAR (PSI). Since the length of the railway is usually beyond the standard scenes coverage of the ongoing radar satellite, i.e. E...

Coastal Subsidence Monitoring Associated with Land Reclamation Using the Point Target Based SBAS-InSAR Method: A Case Study of Shenzhen, China

Shenzhen, the first special economic zone of China, has witnessed earth-shaking changes since the late 1980s. In the past 35 years, about 80 km2 of land has been reclaimed from the sea in Shenzhen. In order to investigate coastal vertical land motions associated with land reclamation, we proposed an elaborated Point Target (PT) based Small Baseline Subset InSAR (SBAS-InSAR) strategy to process ...
